VISION: OBEDIENCE

I was asked once regarding what I wanted to be and wanted to do in life. My answer was simple. "I will obey whatever God calls me to do. I want to be someone great for the Lord. (Phil. 4:8-9). I want to be faithful with every little thing. And I want to hear Him say well done." That's it. Simple as that. Then many would attack that particular goal in life saying it lacks solidity because I was "vague" about what I really wanted to do. And I said, "I'll go where He leads me." And they would say, "Men perish for lack of vision." I stop and think...do i really lack vision? Is obeying God not a vision ENOUGH? Does it have to be concrete as me saying 'I'll be the president of the Philippines, or I'll do this, I'll do that...'? Yet God said, "do not say you will do this or do that or go here or go there...instead, say "unless it is the Lord's will." That has always been my life principle.

I know people may say I lack a solid objective...but simply obeying God every step of the way, ONE step at a time, even if I'm not really clear at exactly where His leading me and why, is ENOUGH VISION for me. It's like carrying a lamp that guides you in the darkest nights and gives you just ENOUGH LIGHT to take the NEXT STEP. ENOUGH FAITH. I've always lived like that with the Lord. And sometimes I wonder if people were right in saying that I needed MORE VISION. But I hear a voice inside my head saying, "my Grace is sufficient for you." And Hey, SO FAR... SO GOOD. I've never been better.

When we try to carve exactly the path that we want to follow, that's not exactly relying on God's will. Because the Lord's thoughts are greater than our thoughts...and at One time God may tell you be the Father of Many Nations, while after you have your long-awaited son, He'll ask you to sacrifice Him at that point. I know it was a test, but my point is this: GOD REQUIRES COMPLETE OBEDIENCE WITHOUT QUESTION. In life, I've tried that...make my decisions and lead where I wanna go and what I wanna do, but I end up Discontented at the results and Disappointed when my plans don't follow.

What again is my point here? Bottomline is this...I CHOOSE to TRUST the LORD FULLY. There's a saying that the only thing constant in this World is CHANGE. That's true. And CALLING can be a for LIFETIME, a SEASON, or a REASON. God calls us to Act on something or serve Him in an Aspect and it may only be for a REASON. Something needs to be done for a purpose. And after that purpose has been served, we MOVE ON...and God leads us somewhere else to serve another Purpose. There are times that God also calls us for a SEASON. Just like a Football Jock who glorified the Lord in it while he was able, turned TV Host because God called him there afterwards when that season of his physical capability was over at the age of almost 50 (. But there are callings that are for us to stay on in our entire LIFETIME, such as Moses called to lead the people, Paul to minister to the Gentiles, Joseph to save the Hebrews and glorify God even in the midst of the Egyptians (as well as set a wonderful example to the present day of how God can use our Trials for Triumph), and the list goes on and on. Whatever it is---if you're called to be a musician or called to be an athlete, that may be for any of those periods, but your only CHOICE is to OBEY. You do not know where, or how, or why, or when God will CALL you OUT of a CURRENT CALLING to serve another. Joseph was both a Slave and a Master, but in both Seasons, he obeyed God.

So I end saying that I will choose until the end to ONLY HAVE ONE VISION and MISSION and GOAL and OBJECTIVE in life...and that is to OBEY. I believe the His word in the Bible sets all the directions I need that will be enough lamp on my feet, light on my path. To say that I will be the President of a Corporation or a Country, or a Musician for the Lord, an Evangelist that will fish for lives, or an Athlete written in History Books as one of the "Greats" is not a problem---it is a dream that sets our sails aright to venture out into the seas to achieve something great. But we should bear in mind that whether we do DREAM IT and DO IT because it is a Dream that either God or the World has planted in our Hearts, we should always be willing to COMPLETELY SURRENDER the Dream even if it was A PROMISE (like Abraham's Isaac and Moses' Promised Land), to give way to the incomparable Glory we will see in Obeying the Lord.

My VISION: OBEDIENCE. Nothing else matters. Everything else is superficial.
